Understanding the Wood Types:

Our reclaimed barn wood shelves come in three distinct styles, each with its own character and thickness:

  • Barn BeamNominal 3″ thick: Cut from the structural beams of old barns, these shelves are bold, chunky, and full of rugged charm. Ideal for making a strong visual statement.
  • Barn JoistNominal 2.5″ thick: Sourced from supporting joists, these shelves offer a balance of heft and refinement, with plenty of natural character and a slightly slimmer profile than beams.
  • Barn PlankNominal 2″ thick: Milled from the barn’s flooring or wall planks, these shelves have a more streamlined profile while still showcasing authentic weathering and rustic details.

Reclaimed Barn Plank Bookshelves

Sourced from real working barns, our Reclaimed Barn Plank shelves are truly one of a kind. Each shelf has unique variations of tool marks, nails, nail holes, saw cuts, colors, and weathering from decades of use as barn flooring. These shelves are handcrafted in Lancaster County, PA by local Amish artisans and are available in Natural (unfinished) or Clear Coat (finished using furniture-grade clear coat).
